Sail Plan, Carbon Rig and Build Update
We have taken some much needed time out, its been a hectic & unsettled year for us since we sold up, moved to be near the build of our new vessel and the change in life while embarking on this new journey.
During the break we have managed to tick a few boxes (and details) for our offshore sailing catamaran (The Legacy Marine 51SF) that is due to start very very soon.
Hope you enjoy the video and stay tuned for the build of something that will change our lives forever.
If haven't already and you want to keep up to date with the new build and this adventure please hit the subscribe button!

Hello from the USA! I’ve been searching everywhere for that large spool of Kairiki multicolor braid line, but no luck so far. I recently got the Talica 16II and was wondering about using 80-pound braid. As for a leader, what did you use? 🎣
Great vessel, dream boat.❤
where did you buy your rods?
what rod are you using
cool boat but why does a new boat still have an engine box????
Hi, I was thinking of a 23 Talica 16 2 speed for surf fishing using a drone, aiming for the bait to be carried out to max of 350m ( 65lb Daiwa J Braid 8 )using a 10ft 6' 24 kg rod, do you think the 23 ,Talica 16 would be suitable reel for the task ?
You only live once.. life is short.. the experiences the amazing things you see along the way you will cherish for ever, forget what people say. Take us along for the ride!!!
Wow can not wait to follow your journey 👌🏽 little jealous lol i need to start dealing 😜
4:28 What PE line were you using please? 😊
Pe6 normally
Stella fk is no1

Can you show how to activate the inreach plan ?
What is the best sized reel to pair it with?
Hi mate, I’ll be getting this talica 16 for rock fishing in nsw how much line of pe 4 can it hold?
Great exhibition bay great place ❤
How many meters is the leader string?
Balloon is not good for sea life in the water 😢😮
Balloon 😮is not good for the sea life in the water .😢
100%, this is an old video and we no longer fish like this.
How much mono or leader from braid to swivel????
Can I get one for free
Im shure it is like 50k for mast:)
Where do you did those mini shackles?
Any good yacht Chandler will have them
What model Grappler did you use for each Talica ? Please
Hi, we used the pe6 B56-6 on Talica 12 and with Talica 16 we used the pe8 B53-8
@@JourneyofaFisherman thank you so much for replying ✌️ you bloody legend
Can't use wind ons?
Ide be so pissed if a deck hand broke off a Marlin on me like that 😂
Happy days,in that part of the world it’s classed as a caught fish when on the leader during tournaments so least we know it swam off strong.
Can't call it new if its just been copied.... lol
Que belleza ❤
Great video, greetings from Spain.
fly?
Big fish
Hi Tony, I just found your post in the Catamaran Build Group on FB. I really love your new boat and just wanted to congrats to you and your wife for the decision you are both making. We lived aboard a Seawind 1260 for 3 years, with our 2 kids (move onboard at 5 and 3 y/o). We sold the boat in 2022 and put the kids on school. Just wanted to move aboard again so we also contacted David De Villiers and ask him to help us design a new 48 foot cat, but had to step back for now. So maybe in the future we will join you on this journey of building an alloy sailing cat for sailing and fishing around the world with the family. PS. This might sound silly, but I would try to move the WC to the other side of the owner head, so you can see outside the windows while shitting 😁 (Take a look at the Seawind 1260 layout configuration) Cheers!
Thanks Jose, its a massive process the design and then sorting the build, alot of sleepness night thinking over details. The probelm with moving the head fro sea views if we have a companoin way there that goes up into a massive sotrage area. Once your reay to get back into a boat build or design, give us a yell and we would love to talk. Thanks for tuning in and looking forward to sharing the progress with you. Cheers Tony ps those 3 years on board with the kids would hve been priceless! congrats for giving that experience to your family!
I can imagine! Later saw that companion way, much better to have that than the ocean view. Really clever! Would love to talked with you guys in the future, I will be closely following your progress. How long are you planning to spend from the moment you really start looking for designer and builders until your boat is ready?
vessel design is now complete and build starts in 3-4 weeks at Legacy Marine in New Zealand.
Hey Guys love your designs. How about a Para sailor for safe easy downwind sailing? check out Antares catamarans channel there is a great video explaining his setup. What about Parallel Hybrid Electric propulsion? best of both worlds i.e. Beta hybrid marine.
The more we push forward with this cat I am now convinced we need one, the route we will take it’s going to get used a lot! Thanks for your input!
Downwind kite or parasailer! Hybrid electric is not an option for us with the amount of marlin fishing we want to do.
Poor camera work on this video. Can't see the necessary parts of the knot.

How good is that!! Well done Bea
Absolutely dreamy!
Guess my problem back in the day must have been I wasn't using crays for bait :-)
What rod tube ist it? Sport Tube Series 1 or 2?
It’s the S1, perfect for 6 rods
LOVED IT 😊

A shame that side isn't free for the public to access.
Got the old and new 12’s. The old was great, the new is just more refined with a smidge more drag. Caught half a dozen kings on it now, same story, still owns them, as did the older talica.
My hope is that this new one will last even longer when salt water fishing
Just wondering which Rods you used for them.
Hi, we used the Grappler pe6 B56-6 on Talica 12 and with Talica 16 we used the Grapler pe8 B53-8
Awesome-Fuck yeah!
Great fishing spot there boys
good man! and not to mention good dad!!
Thank you
Great tips Tony, we look forward to trying your recipe
Do you think you would have caught more if you were using Daiwa rod and reel?
